- As of June 22, 2006, there are approximately 230 caches within a 30 mile radius of downtown San Angelo. 

- There is a WAYMARK placed by mommio at Miss Hattie's Bordello
  -- This is the first waymark placed in GAGA territory!
 

More about

- Micro and decon containers abound in the downtown area, but the farther out you go, the larger the caches get. 

- One neat area for off road adventures, is in an undeveloped area near the Twin Buttes Reservoir and Lake Nasworthy.  There are miles and miles of trails which can be accomplished by a 2WD SUV but a 4WD might be more fun.  Click on thumbnail below:

- Another great area to rack up the caches is near Os Fisher Lake and in San Angelo State Park.  Currently there are well over 40 caches hidden in this area alone.

Head of the Fort

This is the Fort Concho cache--use coordinates from this one for the fort.  The  E.H. Danner Museum of Telephone is at Fort Concho.

Watch for the Moat Monster

This cache is right beside Kid's Kingdom so you can use these coordinates    Also you can use them for the River Walk since KK is right on the river.    The Visitor's Center is directly across the river from KK

John's Marker

This cache is on the road going to the lake so if someone heads for this cache it is on the side of the road just before you get to the main lake.

 

 

 

The Ham Conclave

This one is out by Lake Nasworthy and is located at the Vietnam Memorial

This Waymark is good for old Concho St since it is smack dab in the middle of the street.

Kermit's Pad Watcher

International Water Lily Garden Civic League Park is where this cache is located.  My Bug Depot is in this park also.

 

 

 

The Garden Sprite

This one will put you at the Art Museum and within sight of the River Stage.  City swimming pool is next door.

EK's Buffalo Hunt

This one is part of a multi-cache and starts you at some really neat buffalo statues.  It is also within view of El Paseo de San Angela, a walk that connects Fort Concho to the east and the Railway Museum to the west.  The Farmer's Market is located at the eastern end of the Paseo.

"NO BEANS ABOUT IT"

This cache will put you at the Foster Road bridge where of an evening you can watch the bats depart for their night's hunting.

 

 

 

 

Convention Time

This cache takes you to the Convention Center.  Across the street is the river walk and gardens. There are a number of caches along through here.

Mermaid Watching (nee Concho Cache)

-members only -- near "Pearl of the Concho" a statue of a mermaid located in the river near one of the foot bridges.

Three Sisters in the shade of a big Cactus

The Murals

Cactus Hotel:

The second hotel opened by what became the Hilton chain. The first is located in Cisco, Texas. It is an abandoned building now. The Cactus, however, has some tenants, a Cafe & Bistro located on the ground floor, and a gorgeous ballroom that is used for parties, wedding receptions, etc. Be sure to go inside and check out the lobby.
